Material & Design Details
Peacock is a natural multi-color slate formed under conditions of very high pressure and relatively low temperature. This geological process resulted in a dense and hard stone composed of clay-derived minerals along with significant amounts of ferro-hydroxides, which play a key role in its distinctive appearance.
Over time, these ferro-hydroxides can further oxidize into hematite, creating Peacock’s spectacular and varied color range. To ensure optimal performance, the stone is carefully selected from deeper layers within the mountain. Near-surface material is avoided, as advanced oxidation in these zones may cause swelling, making the stone too soft for many applications.
Peacock Slate is commonly produced in sizes such as 300 × 600 mm, with limited availability in larger formats like 600 × 600 mm, as larger tiles may be prone to slight curvature. Its durability and visual richness make it especially popular for wall cladding and decorative strips.
Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, Peacock Slate has also been successfully applied in driveways, demonstrating its strength and versatility. With its striking natural colors and robust performance, Peacock offers a bold and character-rich option for architectural and landscape designs.
