Material & Design Details
Black Berry is a natural slate formed through slow sedimentation in deep ocean waters, where the absence of bioturbation resulted in an exceptionally pure and uniform structure. Due to its deep-water origin, the stone contains virtually no quartz and is free from pyrite and other impurities, contributing to its outstanding quality and durability.
During metamorphism and subsequent uplift, the stone developed perfectly aligned, thin parallel layers, allowing it to be split into large tiles and even slabs with excellent consistency. The natural split surface reveals a subtle, slightly wavy texture that adds depth and character while remaining even enough for comfortable indoor use.
Large-format floor tiles can be produced in sizes such as 600 × 600 × 10 mm, offering a sophisticated, high-end appearance. While the stone can be honed to achieve a perfectly flat surface, the natural split finish is more commonly preferred for its authentic texture and elegant visual effect.
Black Berry Slate is extremely hard, shatterproof along its split surface, and does not exhibit natural splitting in the horizontal direction once installed. Maintenance is minimal, as no sealing is required, making it a practical and long-lasting choice.
Thanks to the absence of impurities, Black Berry is also highly suitable for roofing applications. Its combination of structural performance, refined aesthetics, and ease of maintenance makes it an excellent material for premium flooring, roofing, and architectural designs.
